Vintage Rolex REDSubmariner 1680This was originally sold in the 4th quarter of 1970. Unlike most Submariners, this one has actually seen diving duty?! Bought from it's original diver owner who explained that back in the 1980s, due to a tiny failure in the plexi glass seal, the watch had seen some seawater on the dial. Luckily at the subsequent Rolex service all the original parts were saved and the watch runs perfectly, however the normally yellowed patina on the hour markers has an interesting oxidised hue. Not that this matters much, but it all adds to the history of the watch and helps it to stand out from the crowd. It retains its original matte red writing dial with its correct open 6's dial configuration and original hands. The watch is also fitted with an original 9315 folded link bracelet and Sept 2007 UK Rolex service papers. (Ref. 245)
